“Event horizon, boundary marking the limits of a black hole. At the event horizon, the escape velocityis equal to the speed of light. Since general relativity states that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, nothing inside the event horizon can ever cross the boundary and escape beyond it, including light..."(2)
“We define an event memory as the mental construction of a scene, real or imagined, for the past or the future. The scene can be experienced as happening to the person recalling it or imagined as happening to another person. Because a scene cannot be imagined or drawn without an assumed viewpoint, the scene locates the person constructing it relative to other aspects of the scene. Thus, the self enters as a locus in space and time (Neisser, 1988; Skinner, 1972) from which the scene is remembered.” (1)
Using primarily forest spaces to elicit layered meanings and emotions is a complex task, the weave of commercial value, ecological importance, myth and interior world is difficult to navigate.
The research undertaken includes historical data from the UK Forestry Commission, contemporary data for comparison as well as philosophical, scientific and political ideas.
We are mediators, our imagination interprets personal meanings of place and these are infinite. Imaginings have a perceived beginnings with the possibility of no end, just a series of visitations that are differing and open ended. The photograph is a revenant.

In the forest of my youth I saw a car, parked behind us, the place unusual, inaccessible / A silver car, two black figures, still, gazing forward even when our music crashed into the quiet place / We watched, Michael and I, then turned to comment and looked back into empty space / Now bodies are found in Ikea bags.
Removed from a spectral opportunity for appearance - a modern death.
